Increasing Access to Youth-Friendly Sexual and Reproductive Health Services
We work closely with our Member Associations to ensure that high-quality, non-judgmental, and confidential sexual and reproductive health services are available and accessible to young people throughout the region.
In Belize, for example, we worked closely with the Belize Family Life Association (BFLA) to build a youth program from the ground up. Focused on reaching vulnerable youth who do not typically access sexual and reproductive health information and services, BFLA’s youth programs reach a wide range of young people, including incarcerated youth, sex workers, and LGBT youth. BFLA has trained health care workers, teachers, community leaders, and over 150 peer educators on providing comprehensive sexuality education to young people in and out of school.
Today, BFLA is regarded as one of the most exemplary youth programs in the Caribbean, and across all of Latin America.
