Revising the Agenda: Advocating for Sexual and Reproductive Rights and Health
Realizing our vision—a world where every single individual has access to quality reproductive health care—requires more than a strong network of service providers: it requires favorable legislation and policies, sufficient funding, and popular support.
We have a long history of advocating at the United Nations and with international agencies to ensure that quality sexual and reproductive health services reach those with the greatest need. We advocate with governments and donors for policies and funding that promote sexual and reproductive health and rights. At the same time, we support our Member Associations' advocacy work at the regional, national, and international levels.
For some of our Member Associations, designing advocacy plans and campaigns is a new area of work. However, this work is increasingly important in a region that has recently seen a sharp decrease in much-needed support from international donors. That’s why building our network's capacity to advocate effectively, and supporting their efforts through strong materials and sound advice, is crucial.
We work closely with our partners and colleagues—particularly young people—across Latin America and the Caribbean to strengthen their advocacy skills and develop robust civil society coalitions.
